This week I finally got two books that I’ve been wanting to buy.  Writing with Pictures and a Moleskine sketchbook!  Yay!  Amazon finally got in stock the Moleskine Sketchbook that’s bound in imitation leather.  These were hard to come by until recently.  I also started reading President-Elect Barack Obama’s book, “Dreams From My Father”.  Too much to do and so little time!  :)

Writing With Pictures has been recommended on a lot a forums.  I’ve been wanting to purchase it, but at $20, its a little steep for a paperback.  It is, however, worth the $20 now that I am holding it in my hands.  Its full of information that is very helpful for Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators.  Very nice.

And the Moleskine.  What can I say?  To hold in my hand a book that was coveted by Van Gogh and Picasso?  I’ve always, always wanted one since I found out about them.  But, unfortunately, the leather issue.  So now I have one and I will start creating masterpieces in it….haha yeah right :)

I read the introduction to Dreams of My Father.  Wow.  Obama writes just as well as he speaks.  I can see why he won awards for the audio version of this book.  I can just hear his voice in my head as I am reading it.  Really cool.

Well this week’s new Illustration Friday is up, so I’d better get busy!  What’s your “Opinion”?  LOL

Today is my Mom’s birthday.  She would’ve been 78 years old today!    I miss her and think of her every day.  She was a sweetheart who lit up a room with her smile.  She loved to sing, dance, and paint.  She loved old movies and could tell you many stories about celebrites from those times.  She taught me to sing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”.   Happy Birthday Momma, I love you!  I know your spirit is with each and every one of your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  When I hear this song I think of you.

Inspiration for this one came from that lovable duo, Calvin & Hobbes.  Sisters:  You may recognize the gray little fellow….yes, its Peter Possum!  :)

One of my shows I watch, Dirty Sexy Money, had a band on it the other night.  I liked the song and wanted to hear more.  I looked them up on the net and here is their website.  They are a husband and wife duo from CA.  My favorite song so far is this one.  Check them out, you might like them too!
